Women who are naturally large-chested usually complain of neck, shoulder, and back pain. If you have big breasts and experience pain in the area of the upper back, shoulders, or neck, then it is possible that the size of your breasts is contributing. As womens bodies compensate for the stress from having large breasts, there may be a chain reaction in which postures gradually get worse and worse, further exacerbating those problems in your upper back, shoulders, and neck. Large breasts place extra stress and pressure on your neck, back, and shoulders, which frequently leads to lots of pain.

When you have super-big breasts, finding a bra that supports them correctly may not be an option. If you are wearing a proper bra, but you have found the weight of your breasts is making the bra straps dig into your shoulders on a daily basis, you might be a candidate for reduction. If the sports bra is unable to hold up the breasts, or if you find you are not as active as a result of the breasts, it might be time to consider ways of decreasing the size. 

Your bra should never dig into the skin under your breasts, over the shoulders, or down the length of your back. Your bra for full-figured women should support your breasts so they do not sag, and distribute the weight evenly and comfortably across your back and shoulders. 

Bras that do not support the breasts completely can cause a deep recess on your shoulders, which is where bra straps sit. The bra you choose can cause painful shoulder groves and creases where the bra straps sit on your shoulders, something that a lot of Raleigh women with big breasts have complained about. Many women do not wear the right bra, leaving skin indentation, chafing, and breakouts all over their breasts, below their straps, and down their backs. This is compounded by women who have large breasts frequently wearing bras of the wrong size.

This is true of women with naturally larger breasts, who are unable to wear their desired clothing styles without attracting unwanted attention, but they are causing an array of health problems as well. Some women even experience unwelcome pain simply due to the sheer weight of their breasts. If you have naturally big breasts, particularly compared to your body’s size, it may be very painful. Any type of exercise with high-impact will not only make you feel sore in the chest, it will also hurt in your back, since that is holding most of the weight as you work out.

According to a study from the Journal of Physical Activity and Health, it happens because of the movement being high impact and not supporting the breast properly. This continued stress from the larger breasts on your trapezius muscles may cause discomfort and chronic pain. Large breasts shift your center of gravity, which causes strain on your mid-to-lower fibers of the trapezius–a trapezoid-shaped muscle extending from the neck down the mid-back. Women who have large breasts also tend to experience pins and needles, according to research published in The Journal of Supportive Oncology.

Bigger breasts can also lead to a reduction in breathing, which may be a contributing factor in stopping exercise. Discomfort and chest-chaffing caused by bobbing breasts are major limitations for many women with large figures. There are a lot of cases of scoliosis due to a misaligned distribution of female breast weight. Some patients have found a substantial amount of weight distributed throughout the breasts, which makes the breasts look unflatteringly large. 

Folding under your breasts naturally causes these problems, particularly when sweat collects in the area. No matter how supportive the bra, if your breasts are large enough, you are still going to end up with the bra equivalent of a sunburned line down the side of every shoulder. Your chest will rub up against your belly skin, creating friction, moisture, and heat.
